Day 28 of the 30 in 30

Today is the last day of Kidlitart28! Yay, I did it. I'm done! I was supposed to have a theme, and I did. If it wasn't obvious I was painting whatever character that came to mind. Here is my last one: It's an owl. If you think it looks like something else you're wrong. 😜  Now I've got two more days of the 30 in 30 to finish up!

Day 27 of the 30 in 30

Almost at the finish line. I've caught up. Now I've caught a mouse. Well my kitty caught the mouse, so same thing. LOOK AT THE KITTY! He's all mine. You can stop looking at him now.

Day 26 of the 30 in 30

Time for a new favorite! Actually the last one I did was a favorite. Okay they are all my favorites for one reason or another. I know it completely defeats the meaning of favorites, but I'm okay with that!

Day 25 of the 30 in 30

I'm just realizing now that I should have made my blog titles more exciting for this month. Okay maybe I thought about this weeks ago. In any case here is a fae for you. I hope you like her!

Day 24 of the 30 in 30

Its a girl today. This is where my watercolors took me. I like this process the best. Covering the paper with watercolors and then blotting out an area to paint. Lots of fun!

Day 23 of the 30 in 30

This image was done fairly quickly because I've got a teething toddler. He's had a rough day and is now sleeping in bed. I'm not sure how long he'll sleep so I had to get this up quickly! Tomorrow I'll have a bit more time. By tomorrow I mean today, because I posted this yesterday about tomorrow. So now tomorrow is today, but when I posted this today was tomorrow. I should write a book on that!

Day 22 of the 30 in 30

Here is a bunny! I don't know if he's cuter than my other bunny, but he's more purple. Purpler bunnies are slightly superior in many ways. Well one way and that way may or may not be color. Spoiler: it's color.

Day 21 of the 30 in 30

It's a fishy! He called to me as I painted so I let him come to life. He was a lot of fun to paint!

Day 20 of the 30 in 30

I really like how this turned out. Can you guess which medium I used to create this image? That's right, watercolors! Yeah, I'm not that shocking. It does look like pastels to me (even more so in the original). So weird how that happened! This is just ink and watercolor. All of the white is the paper underneath and not added color.

The pastelish result was partly  because I painted dark colors on the paper and tremoved color in certain areas to enhance the light. It was kind of an accidental painting, because I created this image based on where the water took away the color rather than planning. I should try this water technique in a purposeful manner. In any case this was fun!

You may have noticed that I've caught up! I'm actually ahead a day on these challenges. I wanted to be able to post on social media the day the image was done rather than waiting a day to post.

Day 19 of the 30 in 30

This wasn't meant to be a bear, but in my mind there is no doubt that this is indeed a bear. Love this guy. One of my favorites. Shh, don't tell my other art cards!

Day 18 of the 30 in 30

I just have a simple little mouse for you today. I was out of cut paper in my art studio so I decided to experiment with the pieces I had. For this one I painted the whole thing blue and then used a paper towel to erase the middle. It looked like a mouse so that's how I finished him off.

Day 17 of the 30 in 30

So this painting is a bit disproportionate and not so pretty. It's basically a photo of me in the morning so don't judge. I'm a bear in the morning without my coffee. There is no line on my coffee that says when you can talk to me. If my coffee is less than 1/4th full it means I need another cup. Talk to me at your own peril.

Day 16 of the 30 in 30

This is a weird fairy unicorn picture that I painted. Decided to just create it freehand. Maybe there is some things off about it, but it's still fun!

Day 15 of the 30 in 30

This is the card I created for my husband for Valentine's Day. It was painted so it counts! It's a bit more cartoony than I usually go, but I like it. I always prefer funny/goofy cards rather than serious things. They just make better cards!

I'M HALFWAY THERE! This paintings is for two challenges: #30paintingsin30days and #kidlitart28  Leslie's site for the 30 in 30: https://www.saetastudio.com/february-30-in-30-blog  This image is 5"x7" colored with Daniel Smith watercolors, inked

Day 14 of the 30 in 30

I'm not sure if I'm thrilled how this turned out. This is a freehand paint from start to finish. Not sure if that was the best idea, but it worked for today. I did find out that my brush pen isn't very photo friendly! I think it was okay with the bigger sizes, but this image really hated the ink. You can tell on the right hand side of the image more than others. I could have gotten rid of it, but I'm moving on.

Day 13 of the 30 in 30

I had four paintings going today. I had a lot of problems getting the smaller images done so I decided to finish this one. I was hoping to save it for later when I was having trouble, but I called it in early! Hopefully things will go smoothly later this week.

Day 12 of the 30 in 30

The merpeople are at it again! This was again drawn freehand and then painted. Yesterday I said that I think I'm going to start creating bigger characters on these small pieces of paper and this is why. I think this image turned out a lot better because the character was bigger than some of the other images.

Day 11 of the 30 in 30

My image is done for today. Not my favorite as far as images go. I think I'm going to start working a bit bigger (bigger characters on the same size paper) because too much detail is getting lost when I work this small! I'm feeling accomplished today: Not only did I finish this painting but I finished tomorrow's as well!

Day 10 of the 30 in 30

I started creating a completely different illustration today and ended up with a mermaid instead. Have you ever had that happen to you? Mermaid art hijacking. It's a thing now.

Day 9 of the 30 in 30

Went slightly lighter with this painting and it ended up a little too light! At least for the purpose of scanning them in. Oh well, I'll know for next time. I may go back into it later with more colors! Anyway this is based on a drawing I found in my sketchbook. I did a little more research into this one as opposed to the last, and I like the drawing so much more. It's amazing the difference a few years make.

Day 8 of the 30 in 30

Before I go to bed I wanted to share my Taco Football player. I wanted to do something silly tonight so I put together two things I'm not a fan of: Football and Americanizing things. Here is the American Taco Football Player (TM pending).

One thing I noticed was that I was making all of the lighting come from the right. I finally remembered to change it for this illustration!

Day 7 of the 30 in 30

I really like how this painting turned out. I think I worked on this one a lot less than some of the other paintings. Okay now to think of something for tomorrow. Enjoy!

Day 6 of the 30 in 30

I'm catching up with my paintings so I'm going to do two posts today to catch up here. This is day six! #30paintingsin30days and #kidlitart28  Leslie's site: https://www.saetastudio.com/february-30-in-30-blog

This is The Straw and Baby Baguette. Sorry, wait, The Straw and Baguette. He hates being called baby! This image is 2.5"x3.5" colored with Daniel Smith watercolors, inked with Micron Pens on Arches Watercolor paper.

Day 5 of the 30 in 30

Today is technically day 6 of the #30paintingsin30days and #kidlitart28 and I feel so far behind. I have been working on my images mostly in the evenings and posting them on Leslie's site: https://www.saetastudio.com/february-30-in-30-blog  I am getting very tired doing this. I'm hoping to get ahead of the curve so I don't have to worry about when my illustrations are posted.

My kids love the show Miraculous: The Adventures of Ladybug and Cat Noir. (It's on Netflix.) While this drawing has nothing to do with any of the characters in the series I thought it would be neat to create a ladybug superhero. It may be hard to see, but she has two left hands. Her right hands are hidden somewhere under her wing. I think today's drawing is going to be a superhero as well! A superhero team.

Day 4 of the 30 in 30

Another day another baby! This is an accurate portrait of my toddler right now.  Here are the two versions I did. The first is the one I created yesterday. I'm not sure if the right image is a lot better, but it was far easier to make a .jpg. Look for these tags on twitter and instagram: #kidlitart28 #30paintingsin30days (main tag) #30paintings (alternate?).

Day 3 of the 30 in 30

Here is my painting for day 3 of the 30 in 30 and #kidlit28. I need to remember to paint the background because neither my scanner nor my camera likes white backgrounds! #30paintingsin30days

Updated version! Still not perfect
 but better color overall.

Day 2 of the 30 in 30

I'm slowly catching up with the 30 in 30 (#30paintingsin30days #30paintings) and #kidlitart28! I have decided to stay behind on my blog, however. That way I can show you what I'm doing every day. Let me know what you think, and feel free to leave a link to your Twitter or Instagram feed!

Day 1 of the 30 in 30

This month I'm doing Leslie Saeta's 30x30 this month. At least I'm trying to! A couple days ago my toddler got really sick with the flu. He's still sick and my 7 year old is also sick (great start to the month. I'm also doing #kidlit28 on Twitter/Instagram. I'm behind so I'm going to attempt to catch up! Here is my first painting for these events! It's 3.5 x 2.5" watercolor on Arches watercolor paper.
